The Hounslow Adult Learning Disability Health Team set up a STOMP programme in response to NHS England’s STOMP initiative. STOMP stands for ‘stopping over medication of people with a learning disability,’ autism or both with psychotropic medications. Psychotropic describes any drug that affects behaviour, mood, thoughts, or perception.
Outcomes:
• 55% decrease in medications prescribed/used
• 28% medications withdrawn
• 17% no change in medications prescribed/used
