NEW DASHBOARD: Antibiotic prescribing in primary care to treat respiratory tract infections in people likely to have COPD

This new dashboard is the second to be included in the ‘Population exposure to repeated antibiotic prescribing on FP10 by infection pathway’ section on the PrescQIPP AMS Hub. This dashboard reports population exposure to antibiotics commonly used to treat respiratory tract infections recommended by NICE in people who are likely to have COPD. It counts the number of RTI antibiotics prescribed and dispensed in the community for the last 12 month period for people who have been prescribed an inhaled medicine licenced for the management of COPD. The dashboard is intended to support antimicrobial stewardship by NHS Integrated Care Boards and optimise use of antibiotics in people with a long term condition – COPD.

NHS England and PrescQIPP will host an Antimicrobial Stewardship VPG on 6th November to introduce this dashboard and how it may be used.
