On 4th November, 1pm - 2pm we presented the important new research to develop and evaluate a practice pharmacist-led intervention (PROMPPT) for people prescribed long-term opioids for persistent pain. Comprised of a toolkit to support delivery of personalised reviews and an associated pharmacist training package, PROMPPT aims to safely reduce opioid use, where appropriate, without making pain worse.

The research team members:

  • Introduced PROMPPT and explored how key aspects of the PROMPPT toolkit and training aim to support primary care pharmacists in guiding individuals through discussions about persistent pain and opioid us
  • Presented the key findings from just released trial results
  • Explored patient and pharmacist experiences of PROMPPT

There was an opportunity for discussion about next steps and the implications for clinical practice.
