At NHS Devon ICB the Caring for Care Homes Team sits within Medicines Optimisation, and we have produced a range of online resources available via the One Devon website and send out quarterly newsletters to all the Care Homes in Devon.
The resources cover all topics ranging from using MAR charts effectively, covert administration, reducing medicine waste, controlled drugs, ONS and the use of fortified drinks and specific medication and condition guidance.
Results from a recent evaluation questionnaire suggest that Care Homes in Devon are using these resources to improve patient outcomes. They are used to ensure compliance to their Medicines Policies and are useful reference and training resources. We are always happy to share our resources with other ICBS and professionals working with Care Homes, and we frequently receive emails asking to use our guidance.
